Embarcadero Center (1971-1981)

The southern section of teh Golden Gateway Redevelopment Center is a complex of four towers linked by pedestrian bridges and walkways; it is the most urbane modernist environment in the city. The Center's artfilled network of walkways-enclosed, on the perimeter, and overhead-updates the medieval Medina in right angles and surfaces of orugh-faced Medina in right angles and surfaces of rough-faced concrete and sheer galss. The towers achieve a distinctive profile (especially when lit at night) through their assembly from a series of think slabs ascending in size toward the center.
